Our Tartan blankets come from a Scottish husband and wife team who "wanted to design something to be loved and used for many years to come. Potentially becoming passed on for generations."
I chose this company because its ethos aligns with my own. They consider their carbon footprint in all aspects of manufacturing. They are aiming to become a plastic-free company. Plus they have developed personal relationships with the people along their supply chain. A major priority for me.
On top of all this, they now donate 1% of all revenue to the planet and 1% to people. You can see a full list of the charities they partner with here:
We chose to carry their recycled wool blankets in classic, neutral colours and designs.
Recycling wool can be challenging as the fibres are often too short to be re-spun. Tartan Blanket co. found a solution by blending recycled wool with longer mixed fibres. This new yarn is a blend of at least 70% recycled wool, like preloved sweaters and the remainder from man-made fibres that would otherwise end up in landfill, like polyester shirts. The result is a durable blanket that can be machine washed up to 30 degrees.
